ESD Wheels from TORWEGGE – Resistance-Free Safety
ESD wheels are an essential component of any ESD workspace, making work equipment mobile while preventing electrostatic discharge. In this context, ESD stands for "electrostatic discharge." These everyday helpers must reliably dissipate static charges to prevent unwanted discharges. For this reason, we place particular emphasis on the quality of our ESD wheels during manufacturing and testing. In addition to these crucial properties, our wheels are also designed to have low rolling resistance, which is why we set the highest standards in this area as well.

What Makes Conductive Wheels Special?
For wheels and castors to function properly, a certain amount of frictional resistance is required. Without this, movement cannot occur, leading to voltage imbalances during movement. Standard tires, as used in swivel and fixed castors, are therefore unsuitable for this purpose. The plastics used as the base of these tires are selected to ensure high chemical resistance and excellent abrasion resistance. They are also designed to handle various floor conditions. However, the dissipation of charges is not taken into account. As a result, these plastics are unsuitable for use in ESD areas or for transporting ESD-sensitive components. For these applications or the establishment of ESD workplaces, ESD wheels made from thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) are needed to reliably prevent charging.
ESD wheels are used in areas where controlling and preventing electrostatic discharges is crucial. They are made from a conductive material that dissipates static electricity, thereby reducing the likelihood of electrostatic discharges. The material can be conductive rubber, conductive polyurethane, or other specially designed conductive plastics. ESD wheels minimize the sparking that can occur when in contact with sensitive electronic devices. This is particularly important in areas where explosive or highly flammable materials are present. Additionally, they are designed to safely dissipate electrostatic charges without causing electromagnetic interference or damaging sensitive equipment. ESD wheels are used in various industries, including electronics manufacturing, the semiconductor industry, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, medical technology, and others, where electrostatic discharges must be avoided. ESD wheels are also available in different sizes and designs and can be integrated into existing transport devices or systems. They provide good traction and can be used on various surfaces.
Different Applications of TORWEGGE ESD Wheels
Our TORWEGGE wheels are optimized for maximum performance and durability. This principle also applies to our ESD wheels. However, the materials used differ, which means that properties such as temperature resistance, load capacity, and Shore hardness can vary from similar, but non-conductive models. Our wheels have a dynamic load capacity ranging from 40 kg to 1000 kg, can withstand temperatures between -25 °C and +90 °C, and have a Shore hardness of between 65 °A and 95 °A. These properties should be considered when selecting wheels for your applications, whether in laboratory environments, production, or research, to always ensure you choose the right wheel. How to Further Enhance ESD Protection
ESD protection should be taken very seriously in ESD areas. To reliably protect your employees, products, and tools, appropriate ESD workwear should be worn. In addition, training on the correct handling of ESD-sensitive items should be conducted to protect against unwanted discharges. Particularly, ESD workplaces need to be carefully planned. From ESD flooring to ESD tables and chairs, it is essential to have a detailed plan in place.
We offer a wide range of different wheels designed for many specific requirements. You can find heat-resistant wheels for use in extreme temperatures, heavy-duty wheels for transporting particularly heavy loads, as well as drive wheels.
