Towing Trolleys and Cable Trolleys in Comparison
Both trolleys are used within the context of C-rail systems to transport cables for technical equipment in an organized manner. This ensures that each workstation is supplied with the energy it needs.
The two types of trolleys share a similar design. They run smoothly on small wheels within the C-rails to guarantee uninterrupted transport. Both are available in various models to accommodate the professional transport of flat and round cables.
The difference lies in their specific roles. The towing trolley, as its name suggests, moves the cable trolleys. It is positioned either at the front or sometimes at the rear end of the chain of cable trolleys and pulls or pushes them along the C-rail to the desired workstation.
When setting up your C-rail system, it’s important to note that additional towing trolleys should not be included in your calculations. The formula for determining the required number of trolleys is as follows: Number = 0.55 x (total rail length ÷ sag) + 2.
For example, if your calculations yield 15 trolleys, this already includes an end carrier and one towing trolley. Therefore, the actual number of cable trolleys is 13.
